Second Set will bring you to the corner of Polk and Clay in SF, to the
Red Devil Lounge, on Friday, August 4th, at 9pm. This show is what you
need in your life right now. Listen very carefully:

Your life is good. You have some friends. You go out, have beer, talk,
smile. At your job, you do good work, you like your boss. You hang out
by the water cooler and gossip and tell jokes. Your SO is great. Your
parents are proud of you, your kids adore you. Your softball team is
first in the league. And your favorite episode of The Critic was on last
night.

So why do you feel sapped? What's that nagging little empty spot, right
there, just below your solar plexus? Is there anything in the world to
fill it?

Listen closely: the hole in your center is the size and shape -- the
exact proportions! -- of a Second Set show, on a Friday night, at the
Red Devil Lounge. You'll feel lighter even before you step inside. The
pressure in your chest will grow during the minutes before, become
unbearable for the long instant of that first note. And then!

Oh, the glory. The pain, the love, the absurdity. The passion. The
exhilaration, the release, the pulsing pounding, the presence the joy
and the terrible sadness -- the fullness, the lightness, the essence,
the turbulence, the wonderful majestic excess of being, here, now.

Oh, the humanity.

Afterwards, like a cigarette for the soul, Segue performs for you. You
enjoy it more than you expected. Somehow, the music is what's palpable
now, tangible, almost visible. Everything else is ethereal and
impermanent.

There is a word for this. What you feel has a name: bliss.
