There are times in history, when a people are Chosen by an outside
Power for Minor Roles, Mysterious Manipulations, and Grandiose Schemes.
At best, this Power exercises its will through equal parts persuasion
and self-referencing circular logic. At worst, equal parts threat
and superior firepower with a splash of simple soliloquy.

Now is such a time, and you are such a people. The Power has a name
which must not be said. (Call it anything -- Susy Jenkins is a nice,
safe name.) It's will is felt through equal parts groove and good
living. It has Chosen you for a Minor Role, a Mysterious Manipulation,
and a Grandiose Scheme, which it bid me reveal to you thus:

The Minor Role involves the Red Devil Lounge on Polk and Clay and two
dates. Saturday will be a cocktail hour at 4pm during the Polk Street
Fair, a small oasis of groove in the otherwise hectic summer fair
atmosphere. And although the Fates have abandoned us because we strayed
to the Last Day, nevertheless will we taunt them with a full-blown
Wednesday Fandango this week at 9pm. Eating drinking making merry will
we be, and you with us. If you don't know the way, seek the Keeper of
the Lounge at 921-1695.

The Mysterious Manipulation involves hordes of 2ndsetters being
fruitful, and multiplying, and making a mighty roar pleasant to the ear,
and uplifting to the heart.

Behold!

And when the Minor Role and Mysterious Manipulation are complete, will
the Power make clear the Grandiose Scheme, and bring all its children
close, and hug them, and give popcorn necklaces and macaroni pictures to
the faithful.
